Navy Sports Club beat Army Sports Club 31-13 in a Dialog A Division first round
league rugby match worked off at the Navy Rugby Grounds in Welisara on
03rd January 2014. They scored four tries converting all along with a penalty to supplement. Desperate Army
tried to put up defences against the sailors' onslaught but scratched only two penalties followed by a try which was convereted towards the tail end of the game in consolation.
Winger Dushan Fernando drew first blood for the Navy with a penalty, which was converted by Nuwan Hettiarachchi making no mistake. Nuwan added another penalty and convereted the one snatched by Number Eight Fijian Kafatolu Mateaki. This gave the Navy a comfortable lead of 17-6 at half time.
Refreshed Dinusha produced another try and it was converted by Fly Half Chanaka Chandimal. Bilal Hassan stole the Navy's final try and Chanaka closed up the proceedings with the conversion.
